There’s a… understanding this phrase I’m not sure is physically possible.
I’ve re-read the conversation 50 times and I think Tara is talking about a sexual move happening in the chapter she’s planning on finishing the next day. Bev’s reply is giving the crucial hint.
She is very clearly talking about a sex… something… maybe position, maybe situation, maybe kink… which she hasn’t tried and isn’t sure actually works. Bev is saying they will try.

Bev: “So…. not QUITE possible then?”
Tara: “I dunno… we were close. Want to try one more time?”
Bev: “Ye– wait! No! Actually… what if we switched places? Wouldn’t that be easier, given our body types?”
Tara: (looking very thoughtful) “That did not occur to me. WHY did that not occur to me?”
Bev (level gaze) “Yeeeaaah… I think we both know why that didn’t occur to you.”
Tara: (unrepentant grin) “I like what I like, especially when you do it!”
Bev: “Except that in this case, physics says you could do it better.”
Tara: “Boo Physics!”
Bev: “Also anatomy.”
Tara: “I’m a bigger fan of that.”
Bev: “Sure are. So, I’ve caught my breath. Once more in each other’s places to prove the point for your book chapter?”
Tara: (dramatically brave face, failing to hide the bit of excited drool in the corner of her mouth: “Well if I must, I must!”

I wonder if Steven ever bothers the ladies for breakfast in the morning when they are sleeping in or trying to get busy? Beverly did mention on the camping trip that they agreed, “never in front of Steven”. 🙂
