Scheme or no scheme, having the last day with someone, even if in this case only for a specific context, be taken away at the last minute fucking sucks
Nort is being really clever here. Dee is basically telling Bev that she’s stuck doing work stuff at the new place, but it would make sense that Dee shares the specifics of what she does with Bev, so using information that’s specific but out of context works best for conveying a more general message to the reader.
This is the worst time for this to happen for Bev. I imagine that Dee leaving the current Swole Gym location already feels like losing someone, and the sudden turn of events that’s keeping them from giving Dee a proper sendoff must feel like losing a loved one without having a chance to say your farewells.
I think you mean “coup bas”, which means underhanded. Otherwise, it’d be “coup de grace”, which means finishing off someone that’s already down. “Coup de gras” doesn’t exactly exist in french, as “gras” means fat (as in the fat in someone’s body). ^^

Awww, noooooooooo. That really sucks. I really feel for Bev here, especially since she was probably focusing on this to avoid thinking about her dad.

Oh hey look at that it’s the linchpin that my grip on reality was relying on!

Did I miss something here? What equipment and what manufacturing errors?

My guess would be at the new location she’s taking over. Looks like she had to step up a day early.

Everyone’s gonna rush on over there and help out, I imagine.

It’s, of course, part of the plan

Oh Bev!
And I don’t even think it was a coup de gras by Dee, I think it really did just come up. Still shitty though.
