I am pretty certain that this is a case of Tara telling a bold-faced lie so Steven can get even more treats as a thanks for going on that walk in the rain with her earlier today. Especially since a few comics ago she jokingly acted like she wasn’t going to give him a treat then said “I would NEVER forget to give you your treat.”
Dried leaves in hot water? Isn’t that a HHGTTG reference? That’s the puzzle that almost got them killed when the ship computer tried to figure…. Now I’ve got a pain in all the diodes down my left side.
As much fun as it’s bern with the previous several arcs of discovering more about characters’ pasts, or them growing into better versions of themselves, it feels good to kick back and have a nice little slice-of-life breather again. Tara’s a gremlin, Bev is (trying to be) the responsible one, and Steven is just a good (if strange-looking) boy.
Treats exist in a timeless liminal, almost spiritual space. The treat exists only in the eternal present. A treat in the pasts not exist, never existed. A treat in the future is not a treat. Only the treat that you can smell and that is in your mouth is real. There were no treats in the past. The Pup Cup must be Manifested in the Eternal Present or Heaven and Earth will be overthrown.
