I can’t tell if he is straining at the leash to go back home, or is doing an impression of a Pointer (a breed of gun dog for those not aware) like he is onto something.
Considering someone mentioned that the raincoats look like George’s from IT, you may be on it (and possible others) being Stephen King references. Hell, Tara may break her legs during sexy time that night and it turns into a “Misery” homage
