Hey. I’d side with Sarah even if it was MY mom going topless in a beach. More people deserve to be comfortable in their own skins and I would certainly support my loved ones getting there.
Not being interested in them in such a manner should not and will not get in the way of my support for them
As a repressed Englishman, I can confirm that you do not know the meaning of the word embarrassment until your mom decides to go topless on a beach. It gets worse. She did it infront of my first ever girlfriend on a family holiday. I swear to god it was some kind of freakish power move designed to make everyone involved as uncomfortable as possible. She still laughs her ass off about it when it comes up every now and again.
She does have some when she’s tan, but other than that, yeah.
Eli
Siobhan only gets hers when she tans, too (at least I can’t remember her having freckles before, too lazy to go back and check for sure). We’ve seen Tara’s tanning freckles in the honeymoon chapter IIRC, I thought it was cute and loved the callback here 😸
I guess their assumptions were that 1) people only wanted the nudity back for sexy reasons and 2) people wouldn’t find a topless older woman sexy?
Still a weird comment: “People were whining about wanting nudity, now we got nudity and they aren’t saying anything! Ah! That’ll teach ya!”
Now we know why Gary “got lost” during his walk with Steven… he preferred not to be there when his wife greets their children and daughters-in-law topless. (Btw: wasn’t the first glance we got of Tara’s parents back at that Christmas story, where Siobhan was preparing to dominate her husband while talking to Noah on the phone? That might explain a lot about Tara’s attitude towards sex – and Noah’s too…)
Gary never misses an opportunity to spend time with the dog…. or to get away from everyone else (or is it just get away from Siobhan?)
Anyway, there’s something going on there. Is it the start of another plot twist involving Steven or is there trouble in Paradise for Tara and Noah’s parents?
It might be both!

Makes me wonder if well See that Nudist Granny Again?
Cobalt
The nudist granny was revealed to be the hotel owner who was doing stuff just to create a ‘mystery’ for Tara and Bev, so probably not.

Something tells me Sarah is going to enjoy the perks of this beach.

Plot twist: Siobhan also invited Donna to get to know the in-laws, and she invites Simon along too.

I’m going to side with Sarah this time. But only because it is not my mom sitting topless n the beach. 🙂

Why do I feel that Sarah will join Siobhan topless club?
Sheila
I’m hoping you’re right.

This is a solid, “not a problem but a heads-up would have been appreciated” moment.

+1

Now we know where Tara’s got her freckles from!
Sheila
What freckles? Tara has none…

And not a word from the ‘Where’s the nudity?’ whiners…as ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Rororo
What are you talking about? The people who wanted nudity back¹ got their nudity back. Why would they whine now? Your comment vexes and confuses me.
¹ That includes me. I’m glad we got casual nudity back.

I was one of those who cheered when the year long nudity drought ended. I don’t think was a whiner though. 🙂

I think Noah and Tara are about to find out just what their parents love to do on their travels.

I love Siobhan so I’m really looking forward to the rest of this chapter now!

Easy for you to say, Sarah, Ms. “Conceived By Succubus Magic Commenting on Someone Who Isn’t My Mother Being Topless”.
Sam Burnett
Do they have the same mother as Chandler Bing?
Cobalt
Does Sarah even have any bikinis bigger than that though?
Lukas
In the 80s, when the mother grew up, topless bathing was normal. Our society has gone downhill.
