Most likely the “core” is powering a pocket dimension, and Teresa is shutting it down, likely since its the “source of her power” its something she is reclaiming. My headcanon is that the Succubi are sort of a “displaced people” without a leader until Teresa came along, found them, built this horny dimension, and became sort of their leader. So its not “real” in the sense that its artificially maintained, but real in that they are THERE.

I know its a “halloween special” but this plot with the witch has been going for a while, and the only way to return to status quo now is with a cheap rug pull of “it was ficticious”
Or it could just go back to the normal story and just go on without bringing it up again until the next time it is needed. Lots of stories do that. Heck Witch Watch regularly goes back and forth between “Dire events are happening because people are going after Nico because she is the Thousand Witch” and “We are now in Slice of Life story mode where random shenanigans happen” all the time.
The core, the succubi, this reality, IS Teresa’s creation.
She was a young girl with powers that she didn’t understood, subject to experience she clearly hated. Her power created this reality, filling it with what she see as people like herself. It was her safe place, but now that she’s consumed by rage, she is loosing control over it.
But don’t worry, Steven is with her, everything will end well.

Also love the story line and the people wondering how you will return to status quo seem to be overlooking the fact that 1, you don’t need to return to status quo and 2, this entire arc is about the status quo changing
I like how the story arcs alternate between entirely normal life situations that are somehow entertaining as heck, and bizarre supernatural stuff that everyone collectively just decides to go along with to see what happens.
Just think folks, in the future this entire comic will be read from beginning to end in ebook form maybe even paper book form. I’ll have to be content with the one or two installments per week.
