The way I see it, if these two have a demonic tormentor who pays them a visit every year, someone must have decided they deserved a guardian angel to balance things out (and keep an eye on them in case they do something silly).
They’re gonna go back to the shelter. It’s no longer there. No one remembers it being there. There’s no record that there ever WAS an animal shelter there, or if it even existed at all.
