What a massive management failure. I mean, who’d let a new (and slightly daft) recruit go on a job alone (unless they wanted him to die, which clearly they didn’t)
I mean, to be fair, the job was basically “Hey, go here and pick up this kid, all the paperwork is already in order.”
They handed Simon an easy job, the fuckups were all on him.
Yeah, but the fuckup was “bringing a date to a nice hotel”. If his employers didn’t tell him of leylines or succubi, how is any of this on him?
Donkey Kong
No, the fuckup was ābringing a date to a location where youāre supposed to carry out a specific job a day before that job.ā He was specifically ordered to go on a specific day, and he deliberately chose the day before that day to fool around
Unless they gave him permission to bring his dateā who isnāt involved with the government at allā to pick up the child, then Iām willing to say āyeah, they shouldāve seen that comingā
They shouldnāt need to tell this guy what I assume is classified info to take his very simple job seriously/not fuck around. And the job itself is unusual; āHey, pick up this kid at this hotel., paperworkās all handled, bring her to usā
So, the government essentially adopted this child and he didnāt automatically raise an eyebrow upon getting the mission and think āsounds like an important job, why would the government go pick up this specific kid?ā
I mean, he had the sense to ask for details about the dogs, so obviously he can use his brain. Having the foresight to ask about dogs with weird properties isnāt a huge step above acknowledging how weird your assignment is and figuring āHey, maybe I SHOULDN’T fool around here with my dateā
The fact that they ran experiments on this kid makes me think for sure they didnāt tell him everything, why would they tell the new hire that kinda info? Iām sure the average Joe would have issues with a child being experimented on, it would be an unnecessary risk on them if he went and exposed everything
And this is assuming that he didnāt know ANYTHING beyond āpick up this kidā he mightāve known the hotel was built in an area that had strange stuff happen.
Hydreichronos
…Because he brought his date *on an official mission*, and went there a day ahead of schedule specifically so he could spend the night there with her.

I feel like “Don’t take a date and bang while on a secret government mission” is just basic professional etiquette
Wherein the business itself was known to be supernatural to some degree. If this was a regular house with a regular kid, it’d be fine, but if the purpose of the department is to research supernatural effects, they definitely should have given him an experienced partner, solely so he doesn’t do anything terminally stupid due to not knowing anything supernatural
Damn. Gets used as a test subject for half her life, gets her succubus role reduced to capitalism and unionized by Steven, and ends up being homeless. Give our girl a win Nort please.
Only breaks that girl.has gotten have been her heart, self worth, and mental health. She deserves a little goid luck and maybe the flayed genitals and still warm.livers of Simon and the rest of his crew
“The social worker being skeptical of the custody transfer because all the paperwork and approvals are in perfect order” and somehow people still think Nortverse is no longer a realism based comic
A skeptical social worker might be less willing to hand over a child to a single man than to a heteronormative couple. It actually makes sense he brought a date along, from a secret government agency tradecraft perspective, especially as he didn’t tell her anything and never saw her again. He just used her for sex and a cover story.
I love how in the previous storyline he just seemed like a fine guy, but thru ought this whole thing Bravere here be like “this f-ing idiot, this absolute moron. This utter horny dumbass” makes me feel it’s almsot personal XD

How this ends with the Halloween specials continuing, I’m not sure.
Teresa doesn’t even seem like she has any will to keep going anymore
Dr. Bombliss
Honestly, it’ll probably her coming to visit Sarah. They’ll probably bond over not wanting anything to do with Simon.

Still not letting go of the whole child slavery, ethics-free medical experiments, and attempted murder of a minor thing.
