      You should go back a dozen or so(?) strips to see the family photo. Bev and Dan had two dads, and the one who is very clearly their biological father died. No mention whatsoever of who their mother is, or the circumstances of their birth, but these four have clearly been a family since Bev and Dan were quite young, possibly having no memories of their mother at all.
